Abscess In Niece’s Kidney Gone!

My mother has been attending the Hokkien service since 2011. She was baptised in 2012 and I saw her faith grew as she heard the Word of God preached by our Chinese Ministry pastors.

In July this year, my brother’s younger daughter, Mynn had a persistent fever and was admitted to the hospital. Mynn was only 23 months old at that time.

After investigations, the hospital discovered that she had urinary tract infection. She was also given antibiotics jabs intravenously and was very distraught. My mother and I partook of the Holy Communion and applied anointing oil on Mynn. We prayed for her in the hospital.

Her fever came down on the third day. The doctor said she was recovering well but to be sure, he scheduled a computerised tomography scan (CT scan) for her kidneys before she could be discharged. Mynn’s fever was gone soon after and she was lively and eating well. Her urine and blood tests were all cleared. We thought she would be discharged soon.

However, the CT scan results showed that she had an abscess the size of a one–cent coin in one of her kidneys. The doctor recommended that she continue her antibiotics intravenously. The doctors were baffled that Mynn appeared well, and her blood and urine tests were clear in spite of the abscess.

She went through another week of intravenous antibiotics which was very painful for her because the doctors had to find new intravenous spots every few days. My mother, my sister–in–law and I cried along with Mynn whenever the procedure was going on.

After a week and a half in hospital, Mynn went for a second CT scan. This time round, the abscess had grown to the size of a five–cent coin!

Our hearts dropped upon hearing the news. My mother was very sad and she approached a church leader after the Hokkien service on Sunday to pray for Mynn with her. She kept telling me that Jesus is Mynn’s Healer and He would guide the doctors. Together, we spoke words of faith believing Mynn is healed.

After two weeks, Mynn went for her third CT scan and this time, the abscess was gone. All praise to Jesus!

We believe that Jesus had contained the bacteria in the abscess and that was why her blood and urine tests were clear. We would like to thank the church for the good feeding every Sunday, teaching us to stand on righteous ground, partaking the Holy Communion, using the anointing oil, praying in the Spirit, and speaking forth what we want to see.

With grateful hearts, we would like to give all glory to our Lord Jesus for keeping our family under the shadow of His wings.

Prayer For Family’s Salvation Answered

I come from a family with members of various beliefs. I received Christ as my personal Lord and Saviour in 1999 and was baptised in 2001.

I went through many ups and downs in my Christian journey and “church–hopped” quite a bit. The one thing that was constant was the disapproval my father had towards my belief. He told me how Christians had disappointed him many times in both business and personal fronts. Most of all, he hated to be persuaded about his faith and would often get into an argument with us (and others as well) if we were too pushy on this subject and told us to keep our faith to ourselves.

I started attending New Creation Church in early 2009 and remembered going to a Christmas service that year with my then–girlfriend (now wife). Towards the end of that service, Pastor Prince asked the congregation to pray for three areas of breakthroughs for the coming year. Of the three areas that I prayed for, one of them was for the salvation of my family. I knew then that it was a long shot, but it was something that was dear to my heart and I lifted it to the Lord.

In the following years, I would ask my parents to accompany me to church on various occasions but hardly saw any progress. Once, my father even walked out in the middle of a service. Although my mother had been quite open, she always used my father as an “excuse” to stop herself from committing to accept Christ. And at the back of my mind, I was wondering if my prayer was ever coming to pass.

The breakthrough came sometime in 2013 when my mother started to accompany my aunt and grandmother (who were recently saved too) to church. And by mid–2014, my mother took the step to be baptised, together with my youngest brother. In the same year, they even went to Israel for their Christian pilgrimage.

But the biggest blessing was seeing the last member and originally most staunch opponent of Christianity — my father — coming to church! I cannot pinpoint when he changed his heart but after much encouragement from us, he got baptised two weeks ago on 7 August 2015 (almost six years after my prayer at the Christmas service).

Indeed one never know how, where or when God chooses to work. But one thing I know for sure is that God loves me and because He loves me, He loves my family. (ref: Acts 16:31)

All glory to Jesus!

Hand Saved From Injury

I am a teacher and in June 2015, I volunteered to go to Myanmar to share teaching pedagogies with the trainee teachers there.

Together with 12 trainee teachers and three other teachers from Singapore, we travelled to the school in a pickup every day. Each time, I would hold on to the iron bar on the outside of the pickup so I wouldn’t fall onto anyone in the vehicle.

Every day, I would pray that it would be a safe trip. One morning, I was travelling to school as usual, and as I looked out at the traffic and thanked God for a safe trip, I felt a voice telling me to move my hand away from the bar and keep it in.

Just as I put my hand in, there was a loud crash and all of us in the pickup screamed. I looked up and realised that a public bus had crashed into our pickup at the exact spot where my hand had been, causing the iron bar to bend. None of us was hurt except for our frayed nerves.

If I had not moved my hand away from the iron bar, my hand would have been crushed. I believe it was the voice of our heavenly Father that prompted me that day! Praise the Lord!
