Restful Placement In A New And More Suitable Role

I had been trusting God to deliver me from my workplace where I had endured three years in an environment that was judgemental and unforgiving.

However, the job market had been unstable for many years now. And as oil prices continued to plummet and remain in the unstable lows, working in the oil and gas industry became even more sombre.

I had anticipated being shown the door in my company where I had served for almost 14 years. But I still felt the pangs of emotion when my manager finally advised that I would be given a notice of redundancy by July 2017, if I were unable to secure another role in the company.

Strangely, the emotions did not last for long. Through daily devotions, Pastor Prince‘s sermons and even messages from my fellow sisters and brothers in Christ, Jesus continued to remind me that I can rest even in my circumstances for He holds my future. So I truly rested and was not in a hurry to look for my next permanent role in the company.

It is so true that only when we rest, God goes to work! In fact, my new job came “looking” for me in February, and within five weeks, I was offered the role by the hiring manager who was based in London and whom I had never met.

We only had one interview over the phone with the Human Resource personnel, and he called me back in the following week to offer me the role!

In addition, the new role would take me back to a business division that I had always been passionate about and had a decade worth of experience in! My new responsibilities would also be in an area that I have a good aptitude for! Truly amazing grace!

My parents, hubby and children were overjoyed with this blessing! And I am eternally grateful that I have a God who knows me inside out and always hear my cries of despair, no matter how small my problem!

I love You, Jesus!

A Miracle Baby

In 2014, I was pregnant and had a detailed scanning done at the 20th week of my pregnancy. The doctor told my husband and me that our baby had a short femur. As I was turning 40, I faced a very high risk of having complications during pregnancy. Thus, the doctor referred me to a specialist and they concluded that my baby was four weeks behind normal growth, meaning that his legs and arms looked like he was 16 weeks old instead of 20 weeks old — with the likelihood that he could be a dwarf!

To confirm this, the doctors suggested that I take a test which was invasive to both the adult and baby, to determine if my genes or my husband’s genes had a family history of dwarfism, and if my baby was really a dwarf. If the result was positive, my husband and I could then make a decision to keep or abort the baby.

We were devastated by the heartbreaking news as we had found out that I was pregnant on Christmas Day, and believed that our baby was a gift from God.

Finally, my husband and I decided to keep our baby and not go for further tests. We trusted that God would make this precious gift PERFECT for us and give us a normal child. We claimed His promises in Psalm 139:1 and Psalm 139:5 (NLT), “O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me… You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head.

We continued to rest in the Lord and knew that as long as we rest in His love for us, we are protected from all harm. In August 2014, I went through an emergency caesarean birth. Miraculously, a healthy baby was born. He is currently 22 months old, a healthy and happy boy, blessed with brains and good looks. To God be all the glory!

Protected From Shattered Glass Door

On the morning of Thursday, 26 November 2015, I received a call from my staff informing me that a glass–sliding door in my office had shattered and collapsed when he came to work that day. Needless to say, I felt perturbed hearing to this.

As I made my way to my office, I tried my best not to worry or be in fear. So I put on some praise music in the car as I drove.

I also remembered Pastor Lim Lian Neo’s message from the previous Sunday which was about giving praise to God in the midst of our circumstances. And the day before, I read a devotional about keeping our joy and confessing our joy in the Lord.

When I arrived at my office, I was taken aback to see the extent of the damage. The handle of the glass panel fell against the wall and the impact of the force had even caused some glass fragments to be embedded into the partition wall, which was at the entrance to my room. I also noticed a wood fragment on a glass panel nearby which came from the bench adjacent to the panel.

When we checked the CCTV footage, I found out that the incident happened on the previous day at about 6.43pm, just shortly after I had left the office. When I discovered the timing of the incident, I could only praise God that I wasn’t around when it happened. Sometimes, I would stay in the office till 7pm. But on the day the glass panel shattered, I had left at about 6pm to go to the gym.

Praise God for His protection!
