If you can’t bring the elderly to the kopitiam, bring the kopitiam to them! A group of 69 Outreach servers transformed Peacehaven Nursing Home into an “old school” coffee shop for the residents, complete with kaya toast and hot beverages. Church volunteers invested much effort into the event held on 23 February 2012. They decorated the walls with posters, prepared the kaya bread and tea, and played Mandarin oldies to get the elderly in the nostalgic mood and spirit. Several NCC volunteers even learnt the traditional way of making kopi by brewing coffee through a cotton “sock” filter!
