From 29 July to 3 August 2012, 26 volunteers from The Zone (Youth) Ministry were privileged to minister at Chi Hoi Dong Phu Church, located in the small town of Vinh Long in South Vietnam. While most of the 100 young adults participating in the camp were either leaders or core members of various churches in the region, they were unfamiliar with the grace message. But by the end of the camp, they were experiencing the Holy Spirit’s strong presence and raising hands in spontaneous worship.
Testimonies poured in from participants sharing how they were delivered and healed during the camp. Ngoc, a Vietnamese worship leader, was one of the many who experienced Jesus’ loving touch. Since young, Ngoc had suffered from chronic migraine due to a damaged nerve condition. When our volunteers laid hands to pray for her, she felt the pain slowly disappearing and it has not returned since! Not only that, before camp ended, she was among the many who received the Holy Spirit and broke out in tongues.
During ministering sessions, the Lord gave words of knowledge through our volunteers to assure individuals of His unchanging love for them. One participant, Thu Trinh, confided that she felt more confident to come before the Father with a fuller knowledge of Jesus’ complete forgiveness of her sins. Even after the trip, email testimonies declaring His good work kept coming in!
Our volunteers from The Zone also received personal revelations of Jesus from their mission involvement. For volunteer Kevin Raphael, one of his key takeaways from the trip was simply to depend on God’s unforced rhythms of grace in all that he puts his hands to. A full-time staff in a private bank, Kevin used to be anxious when doing client trades. But since his return from the mission trip, he was so filled with God’s peace that his work assignments have become effortless. Jillian Ong, another volunteer, felt Jesus’ undeserved favour acutely when the Lord used her when she was least expecting it, to pray for and be a blessing to two fellow sisters.
In all, our youth ministry camp coordinator, Trinh An Dien is excited about the doors of opportunities arising from this trip. To him, this is just the beginning of more avenues to sow into Vietnam!
The Zone (Youth) Ministry volunteers started every morning with devotionals, worship
and Holy Communion while on the 20-minute boat ride to Chi Hoi Dong Phu Church.
Raising their hands in worship and experiencing the Holy Spirit was
a first for many of the camp participants!
