From 19 to 21 March 2013, Jesse Loong, a polytechnic student from The Zone (Youth) Ministry Arrow group, was on a mission trip in Chiang Rai, Thailand with mixed feelings.
“I was quite flustered before the trip. I was going through several personal challenges and I just felt like pulling out,” recollected Jesse.
Having reached the end of his tether, Jesse decided to cast his cares unto the Lord. Together with 44 other fellow friends and leaders from the same ministry, Jesse left for Thailand as planned.

The moment the team arrived at Pa Lai Luang Village, the zealous volunteers started sharing the gospel with the 114 village children aged between five and 16.
To make Bible lessons more engaging for the children, our volunteers put up skits that spoke of God’s unending love. Out of the 45-member team, Jeremy Yuen, 19, was picked to play Jesus.

“I had to throw away my pride and trust Him completely. It was no easy task to act in front of 114 kids. I felt the least qualified to act as Jesus,” shared Jeremy.
Despite his insecurities, almost no eyes were left dry when Jeremy cried, “It is finished!” during the crucifixion scene. This story of God’s everlasting love was all it took to move 95 children to give their lives to Jesus!
The trip ended with an evangelistic night for all the villagers. The event was graced by the village’s Head Chief, who warmly welcomed the team with an opening speech. Bridget Kang, the mission team leader, took the opportunity to share the gospel with the locals and 14 souls were won for Jesus that night!

As the trip drew to an end, the team came together to give thanks and rejoice over the great harvest of souls and friendships that were forged over the three days. Those who arrived with a heart to give, left with a bagful of God’s blessings and testimonies of His marvellous works.
For Jesse, restful increase came right after his return. It was as if God was showing him that He works and turns situations around for good when we place our cares in His mighty hands.
“When I got back, my FYP was on track, my family wasn’t quarrelling anymore, both my grandmothers were discharged and I found a better-paying job! Going on this mission trip has taught me to keep my eyes on Jesus and rest in Him!”
