Although no two mothers are alike, their selfless sacrifice and utmost devotion towards their family are almost universal. For the single mothers at Queenstown CareCorner, motherhood has an added responsibility as they have to double up as the father in the house.
To appreciate these mothers and help them widen their social circle, our Outreach ministry servers got together on 11 May 2013 to celebrate Mothers' Day for 18 single mothers and their 28 children.
One of the highlights of the day was the cake decorating segment for the kids. Under the guidance of our volunteers, the little ones carefully embellished their white cream cakes with candies, chocolates and icing to create their own unique Mothers' Day gifts.
Let's do it for mum!
Focusing on his cake.
At the end of the event, the beautifully decorated cakes and personalised cards were presented to the mothers as an appreciation of their unwavering love. Looking at the amount of effort their children had put into the decorating the cakes, all the mothers present agreed that this had to be their sweetest treat ever!
Mum's the best in his eyes.
