On Saturday, 13 July 2013, 40 elderly residents from Lion Befrienders, Ghim Moh Seniors Activity Centre (SAC) were blessed with a free trip to Gardens By The Bay. Joining them on this trip were 16 Outreach ministry servers, who took special care in ensuring the safety and comfort of the older folks.
At the first stop, the group took a leisure stroll around the Flower Dome, where they were surrounded by a magnificent array of flowers from various parts of the world. The beneficiaries were excited by the beautiful exhibits surrounding them and took as many pictures as possible.
Admiring God's creation.
While touring the next attraction, Cloud Forest, our volunteers stood close to support the elderly as they trod on the sodden ground. We had also prepared umbrella door gifts beforehand so they could stay dry in the moist conservatory that was shrouded in mist.
Enjoying the lush vegetation in the misty Cloud Forest... here's where umbrellas come in handy!
To wrap up the event, the beneficiaries were treated to a gratifying satay feast. One of the elderly, Uncle Lim, shared with the volunteers that he had enjoyed himself thoroughly and he was looking forward to the next event that will be organised by the church!
