In the rural parts of Batam, Indonesia, living conditions remain poor. Poverty is rampant and families survive on a meager sum of $150 per month. To reach out to the children living in these areas, 32 members from our Seng Kang Rivervale Drive and Serangoon North care groups, joined hands to participate in a missions trip to Kampong Air and Kampong Bahru.
Planned and organised by the members themselves, this trip marks the first care group mission trip in New Creation Church!

From 6 September 2013, our volunteers spent two fruitful days, spreading the gospel and blessing the local children with stationery, clothes and toys.

Our volunteers shared how their hearts were warmed when the children’s faces broke into smiles at the sight of the gifts. Some of them even put on their new clothes right away and ran around the village in excitement!
When the time came for lessons, the children listened intently to their new English teachers. With the aid of colourful props, our volunteers retold the stories of Noah and Jesus, the Good Shepherd. The children participated with great enthusiasm, taking in every word that was shared in class!

Besides spreading the good news, our volunteers also shared good oral hygiene tips with the kids. From squeezing the right amount of toothpaste to brushing along the gum line, our volunteers taught them the right techniques of brushing their teeth.

Over the two days, the team witnessed how God reached out and brought joy to these young ones. The thought of being vessels of God’s love brought much satisfaction to our volunteers and made the entire trip a rewarding one.
