On 15 March 2014, 71 students of Shuqun Primary School had a fun-filled time at Gardens By The Bay. These students were beneficiaries of the school’s financial aid scheme, and New Creation Church had the opportunity to reach out to them. With 70 volunteers, there were ample love and attention for each child.
Our happy volunteers and staff of New Creation Church.
The event started with a series of games where the students warm up with each other and also to our enthusiastic volunteers. They then head off by bus for Gardens By The Bay and this was where our volunteers had the opportunity to reach out and connect with the students.
Serene Anna Say, in her 20s, noticed that one Primary 4 student was very shy and did not want to talk at the start of the bus ride. “We tried to talk to her and by the time we reached Gardens By The Bay, she was smiling and responsive towards us,” shared Serene who felt more confident and is looking forward to future events.”
Haiku poems, activity sheets and craft work helped in the learning of the organisms in the domes.
The main attractions are the Flower Dome and Cloud Forests that are green houses to the exotic plants from various parts of the world. The students tracked through the attractions where they saw many plants that were non-existent in Singapore.
The Cloud Forest where cool air and mist were used to mimic the original climate of the plants.
Students were fascinated with the water feature of the Cloud Forest.
To facilitate their learning, students were provided with activity sheets to fill in. The event ended with lunch and craft work served as mementos.

Brenda Lim, in her 30s, shared that she had joined the event with a desire to share God’s word but felt disappointed when told not to at the servers’ briefing. “I asked God how will the children know Him if I don’t share the gospel?” queried Brenda. “However, God showed me that his ways are always higher than mine and by caring for the children, His love was made known.”
Sharing God’s love.
