Despite the large crowd in attendance, and the thousands of people performing on the streets and floats at the Chingay Parade 2015 on Friday, 27 February 2015, one could hardly miss our New Creation Church contingent in the stands as we proclaimed our love for Singapore and celebrated our nation’s ethnic and multicultural diversity.
Seated diagonally opposite the grandstand, over 100 of our enthusiastic church members lit up the evening with illuminated displays emblazoned with large red hearts, letters which spelt out “New Creation Church”, and SG50 logos which represent a nationwide initiative to celebrate Singapore’s 50th birthday.
Themed “We Love Singapore”, this 43rd edition of Chingay, Singapore’s annual multicultural street parade extravaganza, is touted to be the grandest to date as it also celebrated our nation’s Golden Jubilee.
And our church was honoured to be invited by the People’s Association to attend and express our love for Singapore not only in front of the thousands present, but to millions on television as the parade was broadcast around the world.
“We had so much fun watching the colourful floats pass in front of us. But the highlight of the day was when the fireworks went off right behind our section and everyone’s eyes fell on our team. I am so happy to be able to shine for Jesus and to tell the people how much we love Singapore and her leaders,” shared 53-year-old Anthony Lai, Royal Service Ministry server.
The day’s programme culminated in a sea of lights where everyone came together with one heart to wish Singapore a blessed 50th birthday and to look forward to a bright future ahead.
