We Care

Honouring Our Filipino Domestic Helpers

Domestic helpers are an integral part of our society today. In the homes that domestic helpers work in, they take on household chores and care for young children or the elderly. On 20 June 2015, we organised a Banquet of Honour at The Star Vista to appreciate and celebrate Filipino domestic helpers in Singapore.

After Pastor Lawrence Lim had welcomed the participants and said grace over the meal, 199 Filipino participants were treated to delicious Pinoy cuisine and a fun-filled programme packed with exciting games and performances. Our volunteers also brought out birthday cakes to surprise four participants whose birthday fell on that day.

Authentic Filipino cuisine was specially catered for the event.

Filipino Grace Limauco said with appreciation, “My friends and I enjoyed it to the fullest! I also thank my employer for signing me up for it. I am truly blessed to be surrounded by people with a generous heart. All I can say is, ‘Thank you so much’ for making this a memorable day! God bless you all!”

Many of the volunteers felt privileged to be part of this meaningful occasion where they could bring joy, laughter and Daddy God’s love to the domestic helpers.

Said Serene Mai, 30, who went about to capture polaroid pictures for the participants. “They were so excited to have their pictures taken! There were gifts, prizes and décor which they could bring home too. I feel so blessed to see them blessed.”
