On 4 July 2015, our Outreach team visited a group of 25 elderly residents at Bright Hill Evergreen home for the first time. Some 80 per cent of the residents at the voluntary welfare home are destitute.
Together with a team leader, our volunteers led the elderly in an exciting session of games with a sumptuous dim sum spread for tea break.
Mdm Seh, one of the elderly residents, was pleasantly surprised to meet someone who could converse in her Chinese dialect, and was grateful to the volunteer for patiently teaching her bingo in a language she is comfortable in.

In addition to bingo, the elderly also participated in a game called “Walking Down Memory Lane”, which had them guessing old photos of Singapore while sharing their past experiences. “We were richly blessed by their sharing of the past during the game,” said Jasmine Lim, a volunteer.
Besides the fun games, the dim sum brought by the volunteers was a well-received treat for the elderly as some of them had not had dim sum for 30 years!
Even though it was a short session, every resident left smiling as our volunteers wheeled them back to their rooms. Germaine, one of the volunteers, believed that the seed of God’s love were sowed into their hearts during the event.
