We have been blessed because of God’s unconditional love and redemptive grace in our lives. In turn, we are glad to support a community initiative which aims to help ex-offenders reintegrate into society and be a support for their families.
Since 2008, we have provided sponsorships and donations totaling about $270,000 towards the Yellow Ribbon Project (YRP) and Yellow Ribbon Fund (YRF). They include giving to fundraising initiatives such as the Formation Of The Giant Yellow Ribbon, Yellow Ribbon Prison Run Selfie Challenge, and the Yellow Ribbon Corporate Challenge.
Our church first supported the Yellow Ribbon awareness exhibition, Crossroad, held at Marina Square, which attracted a crowd of 5,000. We also participated in the Wear-A-Yellow Ribbon (WAYR) Activity, where church members were encouraged to wear the yellow ribbons as part of their support for giving inmates and ex-offenders second chances.
In appreciation of this continuous support, we were presented with the Second Chances award from the Community Action For The Rehabilitation Of Ex-Offenders (CARE) Network, a group of major community and government organisations responsible for the rehabilitation of ex-offenders.
Our Chairman, Deacon Matthew Kang, received the award from Mr Amrin Amin, Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry Of Home Affairs at a presentation ceremony on Saturday, 14 November 2015 at the Home Team Festival 2015 held at the Singapore Expo.
