Between 21 and 26 March 2016, 32 volunteers from GenRev, our youth group for young working adults, partnered with a local church and a non-profit organisation, One-2-One Charitable Trust, to reach out to villagers and school children in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. They were accompanied by volunteer interpreters from the local church and One-2-One.
The team spent time at Smach Daeng Primary School with a total of 1,100 students aged from 4 to 13 years old, many of whom are from low-income families.
At the primary school, our volunteers played games with the students to break the ice before sharing Bible lessons centred on the heavenly Father’s love for them. After the Bible lessons each day, the volunteers would conduct a short health education session on good hygiene practices and help the children to clip their nails. The children in each class also received a gift pack containing toiletries and some food.
In addition, a games carnival was organised for the children on 24 March 2016 and they enjoyed outdoor games such as dodgeball and team races.

During a Bible lesson on the Lord’s healing, a boy who had a pain in his ear heard a popping sound after he was prayed for by our volunteer. After that, he testified that the pain in his ear was no longer there. Praise the Lord!
A little girl who managed to escape from kidnappers previously became fearful and wary of strangers. But after she was prayed for and comforted by our volunteer, others observed a marked improvement on this child’s countenance. God had restored her courage to smile and believe in people again, and she was no longer timid around the volunteers.
In the late afternoons, our volunteers visited homes in a nearby village to share the gospel and distribute provisions and bags of donated clothing to the villagers. Over three days, they reached out to 40 homes in the village.
At the end of the mission, 910 precious souls had received Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. Glory to God!
