I left my company during a corporate restructuring. Around the same time, my mother fell ill and was admitted to a hospital, so I had to put my job hunting on hold.
Several months later, I resumed my job search, updating my résumé and attending workshops to enhance my skills. Although I started out feeling encouraged and enthusiastic about finding a new job, my applications were either rejected before reaching the interview stage or left under review. I received several calls from recruiters, but was unsuccessful in securing interviews. This left me feeling very discouraged, and I began to feel condemned for leaving my job the previous year. I even questioned whether my age was a barrier to finding a new opportunity.
However, God never forsook me during this season. I included my desire for a job as one of my prayer requests for the year 2024. I was also strengthened by His words of encouragement through various channels—sermons by our pastors during church services, testimonies, prayers from my church family, support from my loved ones, worship songs, and much more. These helped me to build my faith and patiently trust in what God had prepared for me.
Even though I was worried about my finances and supporting my household, I held on to the promise in Psalm 23:1 that the Lord is my shepherd and I shall not lack, and learned to remain content despite small beginnings.
By God’s grace, I was granted an interview opportunity with a company near my home. Feeling unprepared, I prayed in tongues and entrusted the interview into His hands.
A week later, I received a job offer! I accepted it and signed the letter of employment for this full-time opportunity within a week. I am now enjoying myself in my new job. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for hearing and answering my prayer request!
Not only that, but my mother, who had been unwell, was also discharged and fully recovered. All glory and praise to our Lord!
Thank you to our pastors for always encouraging us and to my brothers- and sisters-in-Christ for standing in faith with me.
