Resurrection Sunday 2018: Glorious Saviour
We celebrated our glorious Saviour’s victory over sin and death on Resurrection Sunday, 1 April 2018 with special programmes and performances that heralded the triumph of our Lord Jesus Christ. And outside the halls where the services were held, the congregation had fun posing for photos using handheld props and displays.
The Four Faces Of Christ
The English services opened with praise and worship set against a stunning backdrop of digital animations depicting the beautiful facets of Jesus through the four books of the gospel — the majectic King of kings (Lion), the tireless Servant-King who came not to be served but to serve (Ox), the perfect Man who laid down His life for us (Man), and the glorious Son from heaven who came to lift us up from defeat into His victory (Eagle). The excellencies of our glorious Saviour were echoed by the congregation in song as we worshipped Him to the soaring tunes of How Great Is Our God, The Lion And The Lamb and Glorious & Beautiful.
The worship took a poignant turn with The Sweetest Name Of All and scenes from Jesus’ crucifixion leading to a heartfelt prose, signed in silence: What do you say when Love dies? When the light you once knew goes out, when every hope and dream is lost?…Have you lost your song? Jesus is with you in the silence. Jesus loves you…
This led to I Love You Lord, first in sign language, then in a swell of voices, leading to a powerful declaration of faith and hope with Because He Lives. After that, Pastor Lawrence Lim led the congregation to partake of the Holy Communion, before a special performance of Love So Divine (Glorious Saviour), specially written for Resurrection Sunday.
Saved For Eternity
During the sermon, Senior Pastor Joseph Prince shared two animations — one featuring Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, and the other showing Jesus’ heart of love to heal the leper on the Mount of Beautitudes — and expounded on how God loves us from death to life. He delved into the significance of the resurrection and what it means for the believer today.
Chinese Services And Children’s Ministry
Over at Marina Bay Sands Ballrooms, our Chinese-speaking congregation gamely danced and sang. They were also encouraged by a video testimony and a sermon by Pastor Mark Ng who preached in Mandarin and also Hokkien. The latter was translated into Cantonese by Pastor Esther Tsang.
At Rock Kidz, our children’s ministry, the little ones enjoyed an engaging Resurrection Sunday programme which included a special story about sacrificial love as well as crafts and games.
